Job Title:  Director of Education and Certification

Job Description: 

Job Objective

The Director of Education and Certification is responsible for leading the strategic development, execution, and continuous improvement of SDFM’s education and certification programs. This role is pivotal in expanding program visibility, increasing revenue, and ensuring alignment with the mission of advancing national security through financial management excellence. The Director will oversee a team of education and certification professionals and collaborate closely with internal departments, volunteers, and external partners to deliver high-impact learning experiences.

 

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap to grow education and certification revenue and visibility.
  • Serve as the strategic advisor to SDFM leadership on education and credentialing trends and innovations
  • Lead the integration of education and certification into broader organizational goals, including member engagement and corporate partnerships

Program Management

  • Oversee the design, delivery, and evaluation of all educational offerings, including the Enhanced Defense Financial Management Training Course (EDFMTC), webinars, and on-demand content
  • Manage certification exam development and maintenance in collaboration with psychometricians and subject matter experts
  • Ensure compliance with ACE accreditation and other regulatory standards

Revenue Growth & Marketing

  • Collaborate with marketing and membership teams to promote programs and drive participation
  • Identify and implement new revenue streams, including corporate training packages and digital learning products
  • Monitor and report on program performance, ROI, and learner satisfaction.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with the Professional Development Committee to curate content for the Professional Development Institute (PDI) and other events
  • Engage with military and government stakeholders to ensure offerings meet evolving needs
  • Support volunteer engagement and chapter-based education initiatives

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Education, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in adult education, certification, or association management.
  • Demonstrated success in growing program revenue and visibility.
  • Experience working with military, government, or highly regulated sectors is a plus

  • Experience running large scale attendee events
  • Experience overseeing an online education events
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Change management and team leadership in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Data-driven decision-making and performance measurement.
  • AI proficiency
  • Altai AMS: Experience managing member and learner data, reporting, and integration with LMS
  • Path LMS: Proficiency in course setup, learner tracking, and content migration
  • EventPower: Familiarity with event registration and abstract submission workflows
  • Microsoft Teams & SharePoint: For collaboration, file sharing, and meeting management.
  • AI Tools: Comfort with leveraging AI for content development and exam item generation
