Manager, Accounting General Ledger (Remote)

The Manager, Accounting General Ledger will report to the CFO and be responsible for leading the accounts payables and general ledger functions through developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial close and reporting. The Manager, Accounting General Ledger will be expected to exhibit the highest professional standards and attention to detail while working on numerous routine, month-end close processes, and ad hoc accounting support functions.  We are looking for a hands-on leader to work in a collaborative and independent setting with a strong work ethic, and consistent performance with a sense of urgency and commitment. 

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the general ledger and accounts payable accounting function, including supervision of accounting team (currently, three talents).  

  • Co-Lead the monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial close process, in conjunction with the revenue and accounts receivables accounting team 

  • Review and approve all associated financial reconciliations, reporting/schedules  

  • Maintain and review all financial schedules and journal entries to ensure compliance with company policies and US GAAP 

  • Compare actual results with forecasts and budgets to ensure accuracy in accordance with company policies and US GAAP in advance of the release of internal financials to division and business unit leaders 

  • Manage the movement of cash and payables, and bank account reconciliation to ensure proper cash management in accordance with company policies 

  • Evaluate current accounting procedures, and identify and implement process improvements  

  • Coordinate intercompany invoicing and reconciliation with other MCI Group entities  

  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual audit and tax preparation, as well as any other required business filings 

  • Partner with division and business unit leaders to ensure accurate coding 

  • Actively participate in building positive team culture at MCI USA, and build strong relationships with division leaders, business unit leaders and all MCI USA talents 

  • Support talents in professional development 

  • Ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of related accounting and financial experience, 2-3 year of progressive supervisory experience preferred 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred 

  • Solid understanding of accounting policies  

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written 

  • Strong supervisory skills and ability to develop and lead a growing team  

  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects and work successfully within a geographically dispersed, matrixed environment 

  • Ability to work cross-functionally at all levels 

  • Adept time-management, organizational skills, and strict attention to detail 

  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability and ability to work independently 

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to lead a team through coaching and hands-on support 

  • Ability to mentor others and delegate effectively

  • Microsoft Office suite (advanced Excel proficiency required) 

  • ERP platform experience required; SAP experience preferred 

  • Occasional Travel to DC Office for Team Meetings and Engagement Events
