JOB OBJECTIVE
The Manager for Chapter and Member Programs will plan, develop, coordinate, execute, and monitor the activities of awards, scholarships, chapters, and chapter members for MCI client, Society for Defense Finance Management. The Manager also focuses on ensuring that the chapters are growing and thriving while also serving as a communications and marketing medium for the organization. #LI-Remote
COMPENSATION: $60,000-65,000 annually, based on relevant experience and skills.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary point of contact for chapter leaders and executives, ensuring responsive and high-quality support.
- Build strong partnerships with chapters through regular communication, participation in chapter events, and leadership training program
- Creates, plans, measures and implements chapter‐based membership recruitment
- and retention programs.
- Identifies, creates, plans, develops, measures and executes new chapter programs and services, along with changes/updates to existing offerings.
- Serves as staff liaison to all chapters by responding to chapter inquires within 2 business days.
- Works closely with SDFM chapters in support of their microsites.
- Oversee chapter establishment processes.
- Assess chapter growth opportunities and develop struggling chapters through targeted action plans
- Coordinates chapter leadership visits from association staff and national leaders.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting for chapter-related initiatives.
- Facilitates the flow of information among and between chapters and SDFM.
- Create tools (policies, handbooks, training sessions) to best equip chapter leaders to perform their duties.
- Successfully oversee the National Committee.
- Oversees the planning, development, and execution of SDFM’s awards and scholarships.
- Identifies and oversees volunteer judges throughout the awards and scholarship
- processes.
- Manages all communications and execution of awards presentations.
- Recommends updates and improvements to the SDFM awards and scholarship
- programs to enhance their value to members and the defense financial management
- community.
- Develops and executes plans and programs to solicit external donations to SDFM’s
- awards and scholarship programs.
- Provides back-up support for membership and sales coordinator.
- Assist in the planning of corporate breakfasts and dinners.
- All other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four‐year College or university.
- 4+ years’ experience working in a membership‐based organization with chapters.
- Experience working with membership software, preferably an established AMS system.

- Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal and customer service skills, especially in high-paced environment.
- Ability to manage both short and long-term projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Interest in learning technology and how to best utilize for the member experience.
- Familiarity with data tracking, dashboards, and health indicators for chapters.
- Seeks opportunities to strategically develop chapters and member programs that will support organizational growth objectives
SPECIFIC TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Microsoft Suite
- Understanding of AMS (membership databases)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel 4-6 times per year.
- Support local meetings and events within the Washington, DC area about quarterly
