Job Description: 

JOB OBJECTIVE          

The staff accountant role is designed to be a cornerstone within the finance department, focusing on the efficient processing and the effective management of cash accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable. The individual will ensure the integrity of financial reports through bank and account reconciliation. This position is integral to the department's success, requiring a professional dedicated to precision, accuracy and fiscal responsibility. #LI-Remote

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES                   

  • Monthly Bank Reconciliations
    • Perform and review reconciliations across all client bank accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Processing
    • Oversee timely processing of vendor invoices, payments and client billing, including invoice creation, deposits and receivables tracking.
  • Expense Report Review & Import
    • Review client expense reports (e.g., Concur, Altai entries) for accuracy and completeness; import data into accounting systems.
  • Month-End & Audit Preparation
    • Support monthly close by preparing journal entries (payroll, investments, depreciation, deferred dues) and assist in compiling schedules and documentation for annual audits and tax filings.
  • Client & Team Collaboration
    • Maintain strong client relationships by serving as a reliable financial partner, while actively contributing to a positive team culture at MCI USA.
  • General & Other Duties
    • Provide support for additional client-specific needs and transition activities as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS                             

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field; CPA candidate preferred
  • 0–3 years of professional experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and data analysis tools
  • Experience with accounting software such as Financial Edge, QuickBooks or Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
  • Familiarity with expense management platforms (e.g., Concur, Altai)
  • Understanding of GAAP and basic financial reporting principles
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL SKILLS        

  • Bank Reconciliation Tools: Ability to perform and troubleshoot reconciliations using accounting platforms and bank portals
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable Systems: Experience managing AP/AR workflows, including invoice processing, payment tracking and client billing
  • Journal Entry Preparation: Competence in preparing and posting journal entries for payroll, investments, depreciation and deferred revenue
  • Audit Support: Ability to compile audit schedules and documentation, and respond to auditor inquiries
  • Data Import & Integration: Skilled in importing financial data from external systems (e.g., Concur, Altai) into accounting platforms
  • Excel for Financial Analysis: Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling, variance analysis and reconciliation
  • ERP Systems: Working knowledge of ERP systems and how they integrate with financial operations
  • Digital Collaboration Tools: Familiarity with remote collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint) for cross-functional teamwork
